In Summary

A 13 point lead over second-place Arsenal is nothing to be scoffed at and their manager Arne Slot is absolutely proud of the effort.

It all comes down to simple math. Arsenal lose to Ipswich Town, and Liverpool will be declared English Premier League Champions with victory at the doomed Leicester City.

For Liverpool, a season that could have brought much more glory a few weeks ago (into the Carabao Cup Final and Champions League round of 16) has been reduced to just one trophy; the sizeable Premier League crown and even if they do not win it today, they will be worthy champions nonetheless when they eventually do.

A 13 point lead over second-place Arsenal is nothing to be scoffed at and their manager Arne Slot is absolutely proud of the effort his players have exerted in efforts to become champions of England.

If Arsenal emerges victorious in its next two fixtures, including a match against Crystal Palace at the Emirates on Wednesday, and Liverpool defeat Leicester, Slot's squad could wrap up the title by overcoming Tottenham at Anfield the following Sunday.

When probed about whether he'd thought about the imminent possibility of winning the league, the Liverpool manager simply stated: "The honest answer is no."

"I'm not sure you believe me, but that is the honest answer. My whole life, I'm living in the moment, in the day, and I'm not looking backwards a lot, and I'm not looking forwards a lot because it's the type of person that I am, that I am not constantly looking back at what I have achieved at former clubs," said Slot.

Elsewhere, Arsenal and Manchester United, both still basking in the glory of European success in midweek, will face relegation-threatened Ipswich Town and Wolves, respectively.

Chelsea's hopes of finishing in the Champions League places will hinge on securing victory in the London derby against close neighbours Fulham at the Craven Cottage.

The Blues, whose competition for a top five spot in Manchester City, Aston Villa and Newcastle have all overtaken them in the standings, are under pressure to deliver and head coach Enzo Maresca is backing his squad.

"We know what is at stake. The players are looking forward to the challenge that this club must face to be in the right place, and competitions is important for all of us," he said in his pre-match press conference.
